WHAT IS A CUE CARD?
In the IELTS speaking test, the candidate is required to speak on a topic for about 1 to 2 minutes. The pattern of IELTS exam is designed to check the understanding level of English. The important thing to keep in mind that the topic given in IELTS speaking test cannot be changed. With the speaking topic, 3 to 4 cues are provided which helps candidates to answer the question to the point.

A few months ago, during a train journey on my way to my hometown, I came across some interesting people in my train compartment. I guess two of them must be in their mid-fifties and another girl in her 20s. I was journeying by a second-class compartment with 10 other passengers.
Anyway, the older ones really had the talent to converse excellently with other people similar to a true conversationalist. Going by their looks and talks, anybody would form an opinion that they are highly educated and must have been to some great schools and colleges. However, in reality, one of them had gained formal education only up till 12th class and one up till 13th.
The three of them were conversing and the men in their 50s were implying that sometimes higher education can actually instill more ignorance and false pride among individuals. That’s when I interrupted and requested them to elaborate more on the topic and explain the reasons for their belief. One of them replied that formal education is not everything, as one can gain immense knowledge and learn new things even by reading good books, and education beyond a point should not be a compulsion. Moreover, a person’s worth should be the benefit of just a certificate. Everybody should get educated, but beyond a certain point education and knowledge take a backseat and become a mere business for educators.
It was very interesting to know that they could deduce that and be so knowledgeable despite not getting higher education formally. So, I really got to learn a lot from them and have even kept in touch with them as the 4 of us became great friends thereon.
