Describe a time you used your cellphone/ smartphone to do something important
You should say:
-
What happened?
-
When did it happen?
-
How important is the cellphone/smartphone?
-
And explain how you felt about the experience
Sample Answer:
- No matter what kind of work we do, these days, a mobile phone plays an important role.
- I use my smartphone to do the important tasks in life.
- But here, I would like to mention a situation when my mobile phone had become my saviour.
- Actually, three years ago, I had applied for a job.
- The company scheduled an interview for the same.
- But on the interview day, it was raining heavily and during my way to the interview, my vehicle suddenly stopped in the middle of the water-logged road.
- I was already running short with time and vehicular breakdown left me helpless.
- So, I had no choice but to inform the HR department about the situation.
- Therefore, I made a call to them to apologize and ask if they could reschedule the interview.
- Thankfully, they understood the whole scenario and postponed the event to the next day.
- And luckily, the next day, my interview went very well and I was able to secure that job.
- I felt that it was only possible because of my cell phone.
- If I had not made that last minute call to inform them, perhaps, I would have lost that job opportunity.
- So, this was the time when I used my mobile phone to do something important.
Follow ups:
1. What do you usually do with a cellphone?
To be very honest, I usually spend more time browsing social media applications such as Instagram, snapchat or twitter on my cell phone. Besides this, I use my mobile phone to make calls to family, friends and colleagues.
2. What are the differences between young people and old people when using a cellphone?
I think the major difference is that young people use cellphones as the source of entertainment through browsing on social media or playing games while old people use cellphones mostly as a need to contact their near and dear ones.
3. Which one is more important, using a cellphone to make phone calls or to read messages?
I think it depends upon the situation whether we need to make a call to someone or just reading and replying to messages is enough. Usually for personal work, it is good to make calls, however for professional purposes, text messages are more popular.
4. Do you think there should be a law to stop people from making phone calls in public?
Yes, I strongly believe that there should be a law to stop people from making phone calls at public places because loud phone rings and loud voices while talking on phone disturb and annoy everyone around.
