- Well, habits play a vital role in affecting people’s lives either positively or negatively.
- Here, I would like to talk about an excellent habit of my friend Mike, which is reading books.
- Mike is my best friend and lives in my neighborhood.
- He is an enthusiastic reader, so he spends most of his leisure time reading books to learn new skills.
- He reads books from multiple different genres, like self-help, motivational, biographies and fiction novels.
- Due to his reading habit, sometimes teachers get astonished to see his knowledge.
- I personally noticed his reading habit when I visited his place for group studies.
- I must say, I was fascinated to see many books in his room in Hindi, Punjabi and English languages.
- The main reason I would like to develop this habit is that I always feel negative and unmotivated due to my health issues and some failures.
- Therefore, I would like to follow in his footsteps to make a positive change in my life.
- For this, I recently talked about it with him, and he really appreciated my idea.
- He gave me a few books, which helped me acquire some valuable knowledge and boosted my confidence.
- The book that I liked the most was The Secret, which provided me with information about the concept of the law of attraction.
- But, I still find it quite difficult to read books because sometimes it seems boring to me.
- I hope I will soon develop this habit by continuously practicing reading books in my free time.
Follow-ups:
1 What habits should children have?
I think kids should develop multiple good habits with the help of their parents. They should be encouraged to do basic things on their own, like brushing their teeth, tying their shoelaces, and respecting elders. Then, they should do their homework, and clean up their room on their own. Finally, they should also be motivated to get up early in the morning to do some simple exercises.
2 What should parents do to teach their children good habits?
I would say, children learn many things just by observing their parents. So, if their parents have good habits, like reading books, waking up early or doing exercise, then children will obviously copy them. Moreover, parents can inculcate good habits by offering them some types of gifts.
3 What influences do children with bad habits have on other children?
I believe children often develop some negative habits by copying their peers due to their age. At a young age, they are not mature enough to know what is good or bad, so they pick up some bad habits. This can be curbed by parents by monitoring their daily activities.
4 Why do some habits change when people get older?
People’s habits change when they get older because they do not get enough time to follow them. In their childhood, they have enough leisure time, which they use for their habits, like sports, exercise or other activities. However, in adulthood, their priorities change as they have a lot of responsibilities. So, they don’t get time to follow their habits.
