Some universities offer online courses as an alternative to classes delivered on campus. Do you think this is a positive or negative development? Nowadays, with the advancement of technology, numerous universities offer online study courses instead of face-to-face classes. From my perspective, this brings both negative and positive effects to learners.
To begin with, some people argue that traditional classes have more benefits for students. Initially, pupils can gain knowledge more efficiently through face-to-face courses since that they can interact with other students, tutors, professors and also compete with their classmates. Secondly, attending courses on campus is more economical and doesn’t require any modern devices, such as laptop computers or tablets. It also doesn’t require speedy internet availability. Eventually, students who participate in classes on campus can develop their communication comprehensively and are more social.
Despite the advantages I mentioned above, I believe that online learning has a more significant role in today’s technological world. COVID-19 is a good example. During the pandemic, a plethora of universities held online courses in order to stop coronavirus from affecting individuals’ health. Moreover, web-based studying is time-saving and flexible. It means that no one needs to travel to his university to attend classes or take exams. In addition, learners can take part in foreign courses and access unlimited sources of accurate information without traveling abroad. Finally, by reducing commuting, consumption of fossil fuel will decrease. As a result, the quality of air will improve.
In conclusion, albeit conventional teaching methods provide a few advantages, I believe that internet-based training is an appropriate alternative in today’s technological societies and is considered a revolutionary step in educational systems.
