Traditional medicines, such as herbal remedies and acupuncture, are very popular in some countries. Those who practice traditional medicines claim that it is better than modern medicine in maintaining and improving health.
Do you agree or disagree with this viewpoint?
The ancient form of treatment is quite popular in many nations and people in practice claim that traditional medicines are quite helpful to cure health issues. This essay disagrees with this statement because these medicines take too much time to cure illness and there is no scientific research carried out to prove claims that old methods of treatment are superior.
Firstly, it has been seen that traditional medicines response time is very slow. To cure a normal disease, these medicines take weeks or months to cure. In case of a serious disease, it can cost the life of the patient who is suffering from an acute illness. Therefore, it is dangerous to get treatment in case of deadly diseases. To illustrate, a recent study by Cambridge University found that nearly 10% of people who preferred to get ancient treatment lost their life because their diseases grew very rapidly.
Secondly, these days medicines are safe to take. This is because long term research is carried out when a new vaccine is discovered before declaring it is safe for human use. As well as, treatment is much quicker and better with allopathy medicines. For example, people suffering from blood-pressure issues take a pill to control it and they behave like a normal person after an hour or so. However, the regular intake of allopathy medicines’ side effects cannot be ignored.
In conclusion, this essay does not agree that traditional medicines provide better treatment because older methods of treatment take a long time to cure illness and modern-day medicines are much safer to intake.
