Some psychologists think that the best way to overcome stress of everyday life is to spend a portion of the day doing absolutely nothing.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Some psychologists argue that doing absolutely nothing for some hours in a day is the best cure to mitigate stress problems. This essay totally disagrees with this statement because it increases the stress level, and there are more effective methods to feel relaxed.
Firstly, spending time doing nothing at all can intensify the stress level among people who are already stressed out because of their monotonous daily routine. This is because when one is totally free and resting, their mind starts thinking about the problems one has. They do not think of these problems while working or doing something. Therefore, doing nothing only gives comfort to our body rather than our mind. For example, the World Health Organization revealed that doing absolutely nothing was one of the major factors which led so many people to depression.
Secondly, participating in any kind of enjoyable activity like playing football is the best way to release stress. When people engage themselves in a pleasurable activity, our body releases a certain type of hormones which help in decreasing the stress level. Personally, I often release my stress by playing badminton in the evenings, and it has been proven really successful for me for many years. Therefore, this school of thought is preferable that playing any sport in free time is the best way to release stress.
In conclusion, I believe doing nothing at all is not the best means of releasing stress because most the time it intensifies the stress level, and the best method to feel relaxed is to engage into pleasurable activities.
