Some believe that modern technology has made people less socially active, while others disagree.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Some often argue that cutting-edge technology has made people socially inactive, while others refute this statement. Although some technological advancements have resulted in a decrease in personal interaction, I believe that technology has opened up new ways of social interaction.
On the one hand, supporters of prior viewpoint contend that the increasing use of modern gadgets, such as the iPhone or iPad, makes people unattached from the surrounding. Youngsters, in particular, these days, expend long hours playing video games on their handsets without bothering about what is happening in the neighbourhood or even in their homes. For instance, many individuals between the age of 16 to 30 in my country, India, play online games like PUBG on the internet for extended hours, and they often neglect their parents and society. However, I disagree with this point because of the reason elucidated in the next paragraph.
On the other hand, advocates of later viewpoint opine that the modern breakthroughs in the technology sector have opened up new avenues of becoming socially active that were unimaginable in the past. Social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, not only allow people to interact with the individuals living overseas but also keep them updated with current news through the instant news feature on these platforms. Personally, I interact with my relatives and friends living in Canada through Facebook and keep myself informed about domestic and international news. Therefore, I believe a cutting edge technology assists to become socially more active than we used to be.
In conclusion, although some believe that technology hinders people social activeness, I believe it makes us socially more active through its new features for communication and getting news.
