In many nations, it is believed that children should do home chores during their leisure time, while others say that they should be indulged in some work that needs to go out. While children become more responsible when they work at home, I believe that learning monetary tricks is far more important to them.
One the one hand, the supporters of the prior viewpoint think that when children do work at home in free time, they learn a sense of responsibility. This is to say that working at home teaches them things that they need when they attain adulthood. This makes them a more responsible person. For example, a recent study by Cambridge University found that people who were encouraged to work at home during their free time are more likely to understand their responsibilities. However, I do not agree with this school of thought because of the reason elucidated below.
On the other hand, the advocates of the latter viewpoint opine that when children are allowed to go outside of the home for work such as buying grocery, it teaches them money management. There is no such subject taught in the school related to money, and choosing better options while purchasing items teaches them how to manage money. To illustrate, when I was young, my parents used to sent me to the grocery store to buy essential items for the home, and this experience taught me a lot about managing money. Therefore, I believe that this school of thought is preferable because outdoor activities teach them life skills.
In conclusion, although on doing work at home children become responsible as a person, I believe that learning how to manage finance has more worth when children go out for some work.
