A friend’s son is starting to learn English as a second language next semester your friend has asked you to offer some advice to his son about studying a foreign language.
Write a letter to friend’s son and make some suggestions based on your experience of learning a second language, offer advice about benefits of studying another language, and some of the challenges or difficulties he might find.
Dear Son,
Hope this letter finds you in the best of health and prosperity. It is a pleasure to hear about to plan for learning English.
English being the global language, I believe worth learning in this era. It is widely spoken globally and has been recognised as an official language in the government offices, trade sector, study and research work. In fact, job preferences for candidates in multinational companies require proficiency in English, which will give you an ocean of opportunities. Various resources can be used to impart knowledge to learn, such as online videos, books. The substantial endeavour would be required to learn it. However, it is not rocket science; regular practice and dedication are needed. Last but not least, practice makes a man perfect.
It is not feasible to learn all at school, so consider taking extra class after college times due to the vastness of English. Partner finding could be another difficulty you might face.
Wishing you very best of luck on this remarkable journey of learning.
Warm Regards.
Your Uncle Simon.
