Question and Answers :
- Do you often use a dictionary?
Well, being a student who is aspiring for a career in languages, it is a prerequisite in my career to have excellent vocabulary skills. For this purpose, I always turn to a dictionary to brush up my vocabulary and learn new words.
- Do you prefer to use an electronic dictionary or a dictionary made of paper?
I’d choose the latter. I own one of those miniscule Oxford dictionaries, also called pocket dictionariesIt comes in very handy as I can carry it anywhere and look up words whenever needed.
- If someone gave you a dictionary as a gift, how would you feel?
Oh, wonderful. I would feel elated as I am an avid reader and a complete book worm. So, for a person like me, a dictionary would actually be an ideal gift.
- Do you think it would be interesting to write a dictionary? OR Do you think it would be interesting to be part of a team that is writing a dictionary?
Having a keen interest in languages, I think that would be very entrancing. Although the experience could be stressful, it would be a great learning experience and enhance my language skills.
- What kind of person do you think writes a dictionary?
I think it is a pretty daunting job as a person authoring a dictionary should be well versed with origins, phonics and meaning of the words to be included in the dictionary. All said, a person with exceptional knowledge in words or vocabulary coupled with extreme patience can be an ideal person to compose or compile a dictionary.
