WHAT IS A CUE CARD?
In the IELTS speaking test, the candidate is required to speak on a topic for about 1 to 2 minutes. The pattern of IELTS exam is designed to check the understanding level of English. The important thing to keep in mind that the topic given in IELTS speaking test cannot be changed. With the speaking topic, 3 to 4 cues are provided which helps candidates to answer the question to the point.
Describe something or someone that made a lot of noise.
You should say
- Who or what made the noise?
- What was the noise like?
- What did you do when you heard the noise?
- And how you feel about it?
Well, in India, it is quite difficult to find a quiet place. There is loud noise everywhere. However, I am so lucky that I live in a quiet place. Last week, our neighbour did some repair work at his home. They started the renovation process quite early in the morning. This is because whole family members go to work on weekdays, which leaves only Sunday for repair works. Last Sunday, I was sleeping in bed and in the early morning nearly 5:00 AM. I heard loud noises of drilling and hammers. I went outside to check. I got to know that my neighbour was having water leakage at their home and therefore they had to repair it as soon as possible.
To find a problem they had to rip off the floor. Therefore, the noise of heavy equipments was coming from their home. I hoped that the noise would stop soon but this did not happen. After two hours, I made a phone call to my friend, and went to a coffee shop with him and came home afternoon. When I came back, there was not any loud noise and I felt a sigh of relief to sleep better in the night. So this was the time when I heard a lot of noise and it was unbearable.
