Cue Card:
- Well, waiting for something is very difficult, so people mostly do not keep patience.
- Here, I would like to talk about a time when I was eagerly waiting for my cousin’s wedding.
- Last year, there was an occasion of my cousin Mike’s wedding and I was over the moon.
- Mike is my maternal uncle’s son and he is very close to my heart.
- The wedding was scheduled after the three months of his engagement.
- I must say, I was super excited because it was the first wedding in my maternal family that was going to take place.
- All family members, including me, were enthusiastically waiting for the moment when my cousin would get married.
- As we are very close to each other, I helped him with all the wedding arrangements.
- I went to his place two weeks before the wedding date, so I could assist them in decorating their house and completing some important tasks.
- At the same time, we went shopping together because we have similar tastes in clothes and shoes.
- He also helped me to select a beautiful attire for which I received a lot of compliments on the wedding day.
- On his wedding day, I was happy because he was going to start a new journey in his life.
- I gave the couple a piece of gift as a gesture of love, which they really liked.
- I also danced with them and clicked many photos on that day, which I shared on my social media account.
- So, that was the special moment for which I waited so long.
Follow-ups
1 On what occasions do people usually need to wait?
I would say people need to wait during many occasions. They have to wait when they visit any public place, like a cafe, shop or bank. Then, they sometimes have to wait for others when they have a meeting with them. I think waiting is an important part of our daily lives.
2 Who behaves better when waiting for children or adult
I believe adults behave normally when they have to wait for something or someone because they can keep patience. From their life experience, they know waiting is a part of our life. On the other hand, Children mostly cannot wait for a long time because they easily lose their patience due to their immaturity.
3 Compared to the past, are people less patient now, why?
I think individuals nowadays are less patient as compared to the past. This is because today they can get what they want using their smartphones, which was not the case in the past. For example, people can pay bills, order food, and do shopping online without wasting their time physically visiting places for such things.
4 What are the positive and negative effects of waiting on society?
As far as I know, on the positive side, waiting for something for a period helps people keep some patience, which plays a key role in all spheres of lives, especially when a person is trying to achieve a goal. On the negative side, in case of an emergency, waiting can be dangerous because this can lead to unwanted results.
