Describe a situation you were not allowed to use your cell phone
- Where was it
- When was it
- Why you were not allowed
- What did you want to do with your cell phone
Well, mobile phones have become an integral part of our day to day life. It is hard to imagine life without carrying it. It not only helps to make calls but also helps to stay connected with the world using the internet.
A couple of months back, I went for an interview in Chandigarh. It was a huge company and I was called to appear in the recruitment drive. When I entered the building, the staff told me to put our mobile phones in aeroplane mode. And soon they took cell phones from all candidates. It was a strange thing for all of us.
Soon, a list of questions was handed over to us and we were told to solve that. Then, I realized that the company did not want to allow candidates to use the internet to solve questions. Though, for a web developer, it is not easy to solve queries without using the internet. It was strange to me. After that, I thought they would return back phones, but they did not.
During the face to face interview, I did exceptionally well and the manager of the Human resource department offered me a job. I was in a dilemma about whether to take this job or not because I was not offered a good salary package. I asked for my phone to consult with my friend who is working in a big company. However, they denied my request and asked me to make a decision myself. After a brief thought, I rejected their offer and came back. It was a strange experience for me because they did not allow me to make a call. This was my experience when I was not allowed to use my smartphone.
