Films and computer games that contain violence are very popular. Some people believe they have a negative effect on society and so should be banned. Other people, however, say they are just harmless and help people to relax.
Discuss both these points of view and give your own opinion.
It is quite prevalent that movies and video games are very famous which contain violence. While some individuals think that the government should ban these types of games and films because these increase crime in society, this essay believes that these are not harmful and are mainly used for entertainment.
On the one hand, there are those who believe that making it illegal to show violence in movies and computer games makes sense because it is the key attribute to the increasing crime. This is because people, especially youngsters, spend so much time watching violence on TV through films or games, which put a detrimental effect on their minds. Therefore, they do not consider much before committing any serious offense. For instance, it has been found in a recent study by The Sunday Times that 62% of young criminals admitted to watching violent videos daily before indulging in criminal activities. However, I disagree with this viewpoint because of the following reason.
On the other hand, it is thought that films and online games are major sources of pleasure for most people. This is because after spending a significant amount of time at the workplace or school, individuals get tired. Therefore, they watch movies or play video games in order to entertain themselves, rather than becoming violent. I personally prefer to play the World of war game in the evening after my working schedule, which really helps me to relax. I believe that this school of thought is preferable because it assists individuals to rejuvenate.
In conclusion, although violent movies and online games should be prohibited because these enhance offensive activities in the society, I believe that people mainly watch movies and play games to get entertained.
