Why study in Canada?
Canada is home to many reputed colleges, universities and different post-secondary institutes. These institutions welcome students from worldwide. To be eligible to apply and attend, we are providing important information regarding Canada’s visa application process to understand things needed to apply for Canada’s study visa.
Step 1: Preparation of IELTS Exam
Start preparation of your IELTS Exam, as you would need to test to show Embassy that you are proficient English speaker.
Step 2: Decide where to study
Once you have achieved desired score in IELTS, you are ready to find a college. Decide where you want to study in Canada and in which field of study you would like to study. It is not difficult to find a course relevant to your study and your choice.
Step 3: Check course requirements
Each college has their own criteria to select candidates. Check you eligibility and requirement on college website and see if your IELTS scores meets the minimum criteria listed on college website. As a rule of thumb, most college set asks for minimum 6 bands in each module. Sometimes, different courses may have different requirements, do check for them, for example, some courses require on field experience. All in all, spend time finding programs that align with your career goals.
Step 4: Apply at college
Once you know, you meet the minimum requirements, submit your application for admission. After careful review of your application, college will send you letter of acceptance to further process your application. You would be asked to submit tuition fees.
Step 5: Collect documents
Once you know, you meet the minimum requirements, start collecting your documents for Visa application. You would need to collect following documents:
- Educational documents
- Prepare LORS and SOP
- Letter of Acceptance from Canadian college
- Financial DocumentsOriginal Passport
- Passport Sized photos
- IELTS TRF
- Work Experience If require
- Media Report for VISA Application
Students who apply through SDS must also have a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) with a participating Canadian bank of $10,000 CAD.
Step 6: Submit your application
Last step is to file VISA application through VFS. Students from India are eligible to apply for their study permits through the Student Direct Stream (SDS). Generally, students get decision on their application within 2-3 months after application is submitted. On approval, your original passport submission request if sent to you. Send your passport to Canadian Embassy and get ready to start your career.
