You live in an English speaking country and you want to do some voluntary work. Write a letter to the local council to let them know the following:
- why you want to do this voluntary work
- what your skills and experience are
- what can you do as a volunteer
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing in regard to do some unpaid work in the local area. I saw numerous advertisements on the public notice board near the bus stand, however, I am unsure about the nature of work and how to apply.
I am Mike Smith, and I came to London to do a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering. After my classes, I have plenty of free time and I want to utilize my leisure time while serving the local community.
I am very good at working with computers, and I can handle emails, data-entry, and many other computer tasks. Furthermore, I worked part-time with a web agency while was studying in my home country.
Apart from my computer skills, I have very good management skills also. I can work or lead a team to perform assigned tasks. In addition, I am quite fluent in French and Spanish apart from the English language. I can also work as a translator or teach students these languages. I hope you assign me some voluntary work on looking at my skills and experience.
I am looking forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Mike Smith.
