Weddings are more expensive in many countries comparison present and past.
What is the reason behind this? Is this a positive or a negative development?
Today people expend intensively on their marriage parties as compared to past. The primary reason is that it is the most important event of life, and I believe this is a negative development because couples are under debt after the wedding.
The marriage is once in a lifetime moment. Therefore, to share their joy, newly married coupes throw lavish receptions to their loved ones. To cite an example, Indians are known for expending extravagantly on weddings to share their lovely moments with relatives and friends. Moreover, for many, it is the best time to show their financial status. Thus, people who have limited funds often influenced on attending such parties, and throw everything they have to organise a huge wedding.
In the form of a huge debt, this negative development ruins the life of newly married couples. This is because to clear borrowed money; they have to work extremely hard to repay, and many times, conflicts arise in the relationship when they are not able to enjoy married life. To make the matter worse, conflicts lead to divorce. The Sunday Times reported that newlywed couples who expended lavishly on their wedding are 42% more likely to have a divorce than who did not. Therefore, the people who are engaged have to look at their monetary resources before arranging large gatherings.
in the epilogue, people organise large weddings to share happiness with their loved ones; however, repayment of loan times years to clear, which is undoubtedly have a negative effect on couples.
