Using a computer every day can have more negative than positive effects on young children.
Do you agree or disagree?
It has been said that the usage of the computer on a daily basis has more drawbacks than its benefits for adolescents. This essay agrees with this statement because it hinders the study of children and a long time usage has bad effects on the eyes.
Firstly, when young people are allowed to use a computer daily, it significantly reduces the time they spend studying. This is because these electronic gadgets are quite addictive in nature and young children waste a lot of time on the internet and playing games on the computer. This leads to children having lower academic grades in schools. To illustrate, a recent study by Cambridge University found that in the United Kingdom most young children spent 2 hours on the computer every day and this had resulted in a lower academic performance among students in the school.
Secondly, it has been scientifically proven that a prolonged exposure to screen, whether it is a computer or other electronic gadgets, has a damaging effect on eyes. This is because lights rays from the screen fall directly on the retina and this causes weakness in the eyesight of children. Therefore, it is essential that children should be permitted to use the computer for a limited time only. For example, I used a lot of computer during school days and this resulted in eyesight weakness and therefore, I have to wear spectacles regularly to see clearly.
In conclusion, regular use of computer has more downsides because it has a negative impact on children’s study and the usage of the computer for an extended period can result in weakness in the eyesight among children.
