Some people think the main purpose of school is to turn children into good citizens and workers, rather than to benefit them as individuals.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is argued that the primary objective of schools is to transform children into responsible citizens and employees, instead of providing benefit individually. This essay agrees with this statement because it teaches children the duties of countrymen and it aids them to be ready for future jobs in the market.
Firstly, schools teach children the ethics of responsible citizens in the class. In this way, a strong bond of brotherhood is instilled among children without caring about their race and religion. This leads to children are more likely to live with peace and harmony, when they become adults. For example, in Canada school teachers are told to put an emphasis on teaching duties of a good citizen, and this helped country to have a good reputation of living with peace and harmony.
Secondly, the main objective of schools is providing the education that would help them in the future, when they start working in the industry. Therefore, subjects related to future jobs should be taught and it will make them ready for the future workforce. To illustrate, in India, during schools days subjects related to different types of work are included to make students aware about the different technologies so that they become familiar to the field they want to opt and get jobs in the future.
In conclusion, turning school children into responsible residents and employees is the main responsibility of schools because it teaches them ethics required by a citizen and teaching subjects related to jobs enables them to be ready for future jobs.
