Some people think that modern technology is making people more sociable while others think it is making them less sociable.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
It is believed that the latest advancements in the technology have made people more sociable, however, others refute this statement. While social networking platforms have enabled people to make friendships all around the globe, I believe that these platforms have moved us away from our beloved ones.
On the one hand, people can make friends all around the world on social media websites and applications. This helps people to learn about foreign culture and traditions. This makes people more open and comfortable with others. To illustrate, a recent study by Cambridge University found that people who made friends online were more sociable than who did not. However, I do not agree with this school of thought because of the reason elucidated below.
On the other hand, it is commonly seen that people spend too much time on these social networking platforms. This has actually stopped them having a real conversation with their family members, friends and relatives. Due to lack of communication, individuals are losing the bond with their loved ones and have started living in a digital world only. I personally witness this situation in each family gathering. All youngsters are glued to their electronic gadgets on social sites and they do not like to have any conversation with others resulting in lose of affection with family members. Therefore, I agree with this viewpoint that the latest technology has made us less sociable because it is taking away our speaking skills.
In conclusion, although social sites have enabled us to make friends in other nations, I believe that it is taking us away from our relatives and real friends.
