Some people think that family has the most important influence on children’s development, while others believe that factors such as TV, friends, music and books have a more significant impact.

It is argued that families play a pivotal role in the overall development of children, while others believe that other things, such as television, friends, songs and publications have more influence. While other factors have a significant role in children’s development, I believe that a family’s atmosphere has much more deep effect.
On the one hand, during childhood, people come across a number of things which have a profound effect on their intellectual development. This is because the company of children has a psychological effect on their thinking ability. If they come across a bad company, it is more likely that they can ruin their career. For example, a recent study by Cambridge University found that children’s development significantly depends on the society in which they live. However, I do not agree with this statement because of the reason elucidated below.
On the other hand, children spend most of their leisure time at home and learn a number of things on observing how their parents live. Therefore, they learn from family and it is more likely that children’s development would be more influenced by family members. To illustrate, I believe that I consider my parents as a role model for me and therefore, I have many traits as of their parents. Therefore, I agree with this school of thought because children learn by observing their surroundings.
In conclusion, although friends and other things can influence children to some extent, I believe that children’s development is more dependent on the family as they spend maximum time at home.
