It is argued that teaching subjects such as language, Math, Art in the school are a complete wastage of time, while others say that these subjects are important for children. While it is true that formal education does not include teachings related to life, I believe that this type of education system helps children to acquire knowledge of a number of subjects.
On the one hand, the supporters of the prior viewpoint say that in today’s world, it is vital to teaching subjects related to jobs in the market. This is due to the fact that recent developments in technology have made it difficult to get a job if a person has only formal education. For example, a recent survey by Cambridge University found that 30% of people who had only school education had to face difficultly to get work because they did not have skills related to work. Therefore, I do not agree with this school of thought because of the reason elucidated below.
On the other hand, the advocates of the latter viewpoint argue that conventional education system helps students to have an overall understanding of all subjects taught in the school. This is because every subject has its importance later in life. To illustrate, My friend studied Music during school days, and due to this, he was able to find hidden talent in himself and become a successful singer. Therefore, I believe that this viewpoint is more preferable because subjects in school help students to become successful in their life.
In conclusion, it is important that teaching subjects in the school should be related to job prospect, I think that formal education should be related to providing knowledge of a wide variety of subjects.
