Many people believe that spending a lot of money on weddings is fine, while others completely disagree. Discuss both views and give your own opinion and examples.
It is argued that there is nothing wrong with expending a large sum of money on marriage parties, while others refute this statement. While sharing their happiness with others is the main reason for organising huge parties, I believe that it puts a huge financial burden on married couples to organise such large gatherings.
On the one hand, the wedding is once in a lifetime and people want to share this memorable occasion by inviting their loved ones to a large party. Therefore, they oranise big gatherings in hotels spending a huge amount of money. For example, in a recent survey conducted by Cambridge College revealed that 30% of young people admitted that they will organise a big marriage party on their wedding day and there is nothing wrong with this. However, I do not agree with this viewpoint because of the reason elucidated below.
On the other hand, most people organise wedding parties by taking loans from lenders on a high rate of interest. After marriage, the married couple is under stress for repayment of borrowed money because of limited sources of income. To illustrate, a welfare society in the West claimed that a large proportion of people lend from others for wedding parties and they are in deep trouble after marriage because they cannot afford to pay the money back on time. Therefore, I agree with this school of thought because of the adverse issues they have to face due to limited income.
In conclusion, although people want to make their wedding day unforgetful by throwing lavish parties, I think that it has a bad effect on the married couple because they owe money to lenders.
