Many people believe that in order to have clean and tidy streets in their neighborhood, this should be the residents’ responsibility, while others think it should be the government’s duty.
What is your opinion?
It is thought that people have the responsibility to have clean and tidy roads in their localities, while others believe that it is the duty of the government. This essay believes that both should be responsible for this because the state has the resources to do so and this is not possible without the help of residents.
Firstly, the authorities have funds to keep the streets clean and tidy. This is to say that governments collect money in the form of taxes from their citizens and it is possible to allocate some of the funds to this work. The government can install more bins and deploy workers to clean roads by utilizing taxed money. For instance, Canada is the prime example, where the state diverts some of the funds to keep the areas clean and tidy.
Secondly, people should assist the council to make the streets tidy. This is because if the general public does not bother about keeping their surroundings clean, any measure taken by the government to make roads clean cannot provide effective results. Therefore, individuals should also properly dispose of their rubbish in bins and do not produce litter. For example, in Western countries, citizens consider their responsibility to keep their surroundings clean by disposing of their litter in bins, which is helpful for authorities to make roads tidy.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that both the government and the public are responsible to maintain cleanliness on roads because the government has money to do so and individuals also have their duty to keep their surroundings clean and tidy.
