In some cultures, old people are valued more, while in other cultures youth is considered more valuable. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
It is commonly seen that aged people are deemed to be more valuable in many nations, while in other countries, the youth are valued more. Although considering youngsters more important is a good thing because they are the current workforce of the country, this essay believes that more respect should be given to the aged because of their experience.
On the one hand, there are those who think that young people are more worthy of their culture because their economy is driven by them. This is because youngsters develop new work opportunities, such as new innovations and businesses, which can significantly boost their economic condition. Facebook and Google are live examples of why many cultures give more importance to the youth because these companies have been developed by young persons. However, this essay disagrees with this viewpoint because of the following reason.
On the other hand, in some cultures, older generations are valued more because of their experience. This is because they have done so much in their life and, therefore, young people always ask their suggestions to do any certain task. For instance, in India, most of the youngsters give immense respect to their parents and always get their suggestions for any particular job because of their parents’ work experience. I believe this is a preferable school of thought because old people are the roots of the culture.
In conclusion, although it is a good thing to consider youngsters more important because of their contribution to the economy of the country, I believe that the elderly should be given more value because of their experience.
