An increasing number of children are overweight which could result in many problems when they grow older both in terms of health and health care costs.
Why do you think so many children are overweight?
What could be done to solve this problem?
A rising number of young people are overweight and therefore, they have to face numerous issues related to health and finance their health budget later in stages of life. The main reason behind this trend is that children spend most of their time at home doing no physical activity and the most viable solution is a public awareness program warning people about living this lifestyle.
The main reason for this phenomenon is that most children live a sedentary lifestyle. This is because they spend leisure time on electronic gadgets. Therefore, they do not have enough exercise and this results in overweight among children. To illustrate, a recent study by Cambridge University found that children who stay at home doing no physical work are more likely to have more weight than their age and height.
To tackle this problem, the government should launch a campaign in the media and in schools to educate people about the dangers of overweight among children and detrimental effects of this issue on health and financial resources when they get older. An awareness campaign could shed some light on this issue and people to become open and honest about it. For example, a similar initiative in Japan resulted in 50% of children started going to the playground and they have controlled the issue of overweight among children.
In conclusion, the rise in high weight among children is a major issue because they are living a sedentary lifestyle and the best way to curb this dilemma is to teach people about these side-effects associated with health issues due to overweight.
