People nowadays are not as fit and active as they were in the past.
What are the reasons for this?
What measures can be taken for this?
In this contemporary era, the fitness level of masses is much lower as compared to people in the past. The main reason for this issue is that people do less physical activities to perform any task, and the most viable solution to this is public awareness.
The primary reason for the lower fitness level of people is the modern conveniences that people have. Due to this, people can perform many of their daily tasks sitting at their home and therefore, they do not need to walk at all. Thus, they have become couch potatoes. For example, mobile applications life Zomato, Bigbasket and Swiggy can deliver most of the food items at your doorsteps with the touch of a button, however, in the past people had to walk to purchase daily need items and had to walk to the market which kept them physically fit.
To solve this issue, public awareness programs should be organised by the government. People should be taught about the harmful effects on the body if people live a sedentary lifestyle. This will lead to people will get motivated and they can liberate or save themselves from dangerous diseases such as cholesterol, heart diseases and diabetes. To illustrate, a government-run advertisement “Walk for an Hour” was run by Japan government to motivate residents to go for a walk, and after six months, a study was conducted and it found that patients visiting heart doctors reduced significantly.
In conclusion, the main culprit behind weak fitness of people in this century is modern facilities, and teaching people about harms these facilities are causing to their health is the best solution.
