Nowadays people waste a lot of food that is bought from shops and restaurants.
Why do you think people waste food?
What can be done to reduce the amount of food they throw away?
These days many people throw away unconsumed food items that are purchased from retail stores and restaurants. I believe that excessive buying of food products is the main reason behind food wastage, and reducing the amount of food being served would significantly help to curb food throw habit.
The primary reason why people waste a lot of food is that they mostly order food items more than they need. This is because people want to taste different delicious meals. In the end, it becomes quite difficult for them to finish all ordered dishes resulting in food throw away. I personally witness this situation many times while I attend parties in restaurants with friends. Attendees order more food items, and they are unable to finish all items in the end.
To solve this, hotel owners should reduce the quantity of food being served to customers. In this way, people can order as many dishes as they want without worrying about any wastage. If this policy is adopted universally, food waste can be reduced significantly. For example, a recent study at Cambridge University found that nearly 50% of food wastage can be reduced at restaurants if the quantity of served food is reduced by 20% than its current quantity.
In conclusion, ordering food products more than one can eat at a restaurant is the main reason why food is being wasted, and reduction in the amount of food being given to customers can significantly reduce this wastage. Therefore, it is predicted that responsible people will take appropriate actions to curb food throw away culture.
