Some people say that schools do not do enough to teach young people about health.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is argued that youngsters are not taught about their health issues by schools. This essay agrees with this statement because schools emphasize more on improving grades of their students, and school authorities think that parents are responsible to teach children about health matters.
Firstly, the main reason why schools do not focus to teach about health is that they think their responsibility is to improve the grades of students. It is believed that to have a lucrative career, youngsters should have good grades in academics. Therefore, school managements have a little focus to teach health issues. For example, in India, almost every school is pushing hard students to have higher grades, and even some schools converted games period to normal classroom period to teach an academic subject.
Secondly, it is believed by school authorities that teaching about health matters is the duty of parents. The schools are responsible to impart academic knowledge rather than an overall development of children. Therefore, most schools skip the most important topic of life that is healthy. To illustrate, I personally witnessed this situation, when school teachers asked me to teach my child about health matters at home. This was really a strange thing to me.
In conclusion, young children are being not taught about health matters by educational institutions because schools have attention to improve grades of students, and educational societies think parents have more obligation to teach children about their health. Therefore, it is believed that schools change their mindset and start focusing on teaching health matter to students.
